Monday-WhatWouldGwynethDo

Today feels like a Monday.

And in all honesty, yesterday was a Sunday that felt like a Monday. And Friday sort of felt like a Monday.

And so on.

I was going to start this post and talk about the art of quitting.

You see, I want to quit this 30 Clean thing. I want to quit this blog. I want to quit my job.

I want to believe it is an art, a skill, a good thing – to quit.

And to move on to something else that may make me happier, more fulfilled, less displaced.

To quit without remorse. To know that it’s the right thing to do. To believe I can commit to something else instead and quitting will have been the right move.

To quit with some dignity.

But I’m not sure if that’s the answer.

As I’ve said before, some days are tougher than others. Some bursts of creativity outrun others. Some sacrifices are worth it in the long run, even if the short run seems miles long.

Some Mondays last a whole week.

So for today, I am not going to quit anything and I am just going to just do my very best to look forward to Tuesday.

Hope your week is off to a better start than mine. And if it’s not, there’s always tomorrow 🙂

    1. Please don’t quit this blog, I love it! (Although, of course, do whatever you actually need to do :))
    2. It may sound odd but I stumbled upon this Freakonomics podcast on quitting when I was going through a similar “I want to quit EVERYTHING” funk a few years ago and it helped reframe the idea for me: http://freakonomics.com/2011/09/30/new-freakonomics-radio-podcast-the-upside-of-quitting/.

I definitely feel you on the ‘quit it all’ train. I’ve felt that way for the better part of 2014 so far. I’m taking it a day at a time. Good luck. And if you’re going to cave, I say cave on a brownie. Make it something good. 😉 Or don’t, you’ve got more willpower than I do, I’ve come to believe.

Kate- thanks for linking to that podcast! Podcasts are my new favorite obsession and that one sounds great.

I also have had this great desire to quit everything. Perhaps to start fresh, or to focus more on my family, or to take time to figure out what I want for my future…I don’t really know. This post could not be more timely. I hope we both get this figured out.

I love your blog- hope you don’t quit! However, for me in the last year, I did quit many, many things and made room for new. After letting the change shake out, I’m bringing back a few things I missed- slowly, and maybe in a different way than before. But I guess my point is that there is a time and a place and if your gut is telling you that you’re not into something right now, listen. It doesn’t mean you will always feel that way or that it will be done forever.

    Hang in there 🙂

I also hope you don’t quit your blog – I love it! But can see quitting the 30 Clean – that just sounds crazy awful. Quitting isn’t always bad…call it reprioritizing

I honestly love your blog! But do what you need to do for your own happiness. It’s all a journey. I have to remind myself it’s a journey and journey’s take time and twists and whatnot all the time because I want everything worked out “right now.” Something a friend said to me is “sometimes you need to wait for the mud in the water to settle before you can clearly see where you’re going.” It was a helpful image for me and a reminder to give things some time if I didn’t know where to go or what to choose. But when the waters clear: leap forward 🙂

I really enjoy reading your blog and hope you continue I quit my job a few months ago. It was a huge decision for me and one I spent every waking hour agonising over. It was scary but I feel transformed I worried I would not be a good role model for my teenage children by quitting but they and my husband have been so supportive and have commented how much happier I am. I’ve been able to take some time to pursue some interests I would never have done which have had a positive effect on us all. I am stress free and feel like I’m really living again.

    Don’t quit your blog!

I am sorry you are having a hard week. I have been there for sure. In terms of the Clean 30, that looks really restrictive. I believe in eating in a way that honors our bodies and spirits. BUT I struggle with that. A lot.

    Trust yourself. Gwyneth does.

Maybe instead of quitting, a conscious uncoupling?

I really love your blog and have recommended it to many friends. It is classy, stylish, and always thoughtful. But I think you might be limiting yourself with the WWGD. Who cares about Gwyneth – what would Raluca do? I do not mean to be negative in any way, as I do love the content of your blog. Just something for you to consider.

Today on the clean feels harder than the others for some reason. I guess it’s like February . . . still so much winter to go.
