Finding The New

Someone very close to me is embarking on a big change today and I am so very proud of her.

She is leaving a life that she has known for a very long time.

A comfort that has warmed her to the core for as long as she can remember.

A community that has lifted her up when she is down and pushed her higher when she was up.

She is starting down a new path and walking down new roads, not entirely sure where they may lead her.

But looking to them with an open mind, an open heart and a very open spirit, nonetheless.

She is doing what many people only dream of doing. She is pushing her boundaries and the boundaries that society has put upon her and is looking for new boundaries to take on.

She knows in her heart that her old life will always be there for her. It will always have a place waiting for her. It will always welcome her back. She will still depend on it for many things: some work, the occasional visit, several good friends.

But she won’t rely on it.

She won’t fall back into its easy arms, she will move forward into a new chapter and look to the future with optimism and hope and a little fear.

She will leave the old to find the new.

And I hope the new brings her nothing but the best.

I love this image. And this concept. It’s like the William Shedd one about losing sight of the shore, or at least it makes me think of it. Bravo and congratulations to your friend and may the wind be at her back. xox
