Saturday Reads

I love Saturday mornings with all my being. We believe in a slow start to the day, lots of coffee refills, “just one more” cartoon, and staying in our pajamas until the outside world basically forces us out of them. I don’t consider it wasted time. I consider it time that replenishes and refuels us, mentally and physically, after a long week. Hope yours is lovely. Here are some fun things I have bookmarked lately:

Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere may be one of the most successful lifestyle bloggers ever and I do enjoy her posts on food, home and fashion but this one (from last week) about marriage and her two-year anniversary was a different kind of read that reminded me why she is so good – because she keeps things fresh and fun, even when the topic is a little more serious.

How to wash your face, via Garance DorĂ©. I took a mental health break yesterday morning and checked myself into the nearest spa for a few hours after dropping the kids off at school. I highly recommend doing that once in a while but that’s a topic for a whole other post. Anyhow, I had a great facial and it reminded me how important it is – especially at “this” age – to take good care of your skin and body.

Why employers don’t care about your cover letter and how to change that. I am a creature of change which means I am basically always house hunting and job hunting. This is a good read for those of you doing the latter.

I have a friend who travels often, and often in great style, on points and upgrades. We are seriously missing out on taking advantage of loyalty programs and frequent flyer miles and all that good stuff and this beginner’s guide to that world has encouraged me to get organized and start saving!

A poignant piece about marriage and an issue I believe we have all experienced on some level at some point. I commend Amanda for putting it into words. Public ones, no less.

Have a great weekend. Off to waste ours away.

That Cupcakes and Cashmere piece was delightful. I don’t think that there is anything I enjoy quite as fully as hearing (or reading) the things that people love about their partner.

Thank you for including me in your round up!
