BacktoSchool-WhatWouldGwynethDo

It kind of feels like I am just starting to relish summer and it’s already time to think back-to-school.

Little D is making a big transition this year: she is starting grade one in a new public school after three sheltered years in the “bubble” of her beloved private pre-school/kindergarten.

I think I am more anxious about it than she is but nothing cures the back-to-school jitters like supply shopping. I can vividly remember going to the local store with my parents, long list in-hand, and ticking off every school essential from binders to blue pens for the first day of school. That feeling of new beginnings, new classrooms, new teachers, crisp new notebooks…it’s one of my fondest childhood memories.

So clearly I need to stock up Little D in similar style. In addition to the basics (glue stick, crayons, ruler, etc), here are some of my favorite back-to-school must-haves for this Fall:

(Clockwise from top left)

Labels are mandatory these days but why make them mundane? Stuck On You has the coolest little labels, all easily personalized with fun fonts, colors and graphics.

Plastic baggies are so old school. We opt for these reusable LunchSkins bags instead. They are earth-friendly, easy to use, and come in bright designs that mommy and little will love.

A new school wardrobe is a must and this “geeky” tee from Zara Kids is anything but.

My daughter LOVES bento box lunches and this Itzy Ritzy double-decker pack is a personal fave.

You already know how much I love Poppin so I was thrilled to see them tapping into the tiny set with their new back-to-school basics. Little D has already cracked open her pack of Magical Markers to test them before the big day. They passed with flying colors.

The hipster equivalent of a first grade backpack, via the fine folks at Herschel. This polka dot/camo combo opens up to show off a bright red pinstripe interior. Chic and sweet at the same time.

These monster pencil cases from ZipIt make any homework assignment a little more fun.

Finally, a new school year has to mean a pair of brand new shoes. Little D will take that first grade playground by storm in these pink high tops from H&M.

And meanwhile, my emotions will probably be taking me by storm in the drop-off line. 😉

Thanks for the Lunchskins recco–been meaning to check them out and clicked over and got 3 sets of the sandwich bags and 3 sets of the snack bags for our two boys. Can’t believe school season is almost upon us!
