The Real You

You know her.

She’s the one who laughs out loud until her cheeks hurt.

The one who sings along with no inhibition.

The one who speaks up when she doesn’t like something.

The one who feels love so intensely she wants to shout it from the rooftops.

The one who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

The one who isn’t always right, and is ok with that.

The one who shares without abandon.

The one who isn’t always polite.

The one who stays up past her bedtime.

The one who is moved by things, big and small.

The one who eats and drinks and dances.

You know her.

Find her.

And more importantly, find the people out there who will love her just as much as you do.

Love this! It’s all about being You, with no apologies. Why do we not get this until we are older? I know that some ladies are lucky enough to understand this when they are young. How lucky are they? When we are young, we concern ourselves so much with what everyone else thinks of us. We are people-pleasers. It’s a good thing that society norms are changing in that we don’t have to measure ourselves only in terms of being a good wife or a good mother. Now, we can be whatever it is we want to be-no apologies-and we are happier because of it.

Yes! And totally agree about societal norms.

    so need to find her.
she’s gotten a bit buried, these past few years…
she’s reemerging, though – and these words are a brilliant reminder.
    xx
