Making My Monday

2012 September 17
by WWGD

We had the most amazing weekend. We ran away and left our kids with my parents (for the first time in like four years…long story) and everything went off without a hitch. I know I am the girl who doesn’t believe in date night, and I still stand by that. But I sure do believe in two days by a glorious pool with ocean views, gourmet meals and chocolates on your pillow. The week ahead is shaping up to be a busy one, and of course both skater hubs and I woke up with a little cold this morning to make it extra challenging, but nonetheless, here are five things I am looking forward to:

My sister is showcasing her directorial debut later this week in Montreal. It’s a 45-minute piece on the band Suuns that she filmed and edited all by herself and I am so sad I can’t be there for its big premiere. If you’re in the city, I hope you will be!

I came across this series on Raising a Daughter that I am looking forward to reading. Little D is becoming such a little lady, it’s frightening and exciting all at once and I am really starting to think consciously about how my words and actions will impact the woman she becomes.

But while she’s still my little girl, it’s school picture day on Friday and I am so excited. I love looking back on my school pictures from childhood. I see the glassy wetness in my eyes in my kindergarten shot and remember that my dress was itchy and I was so upset that my mom made me wear it…ha. I am going to ensure she looks cute AND comfortable every year. No glassy eyes, just gorgeous grins.

The Emerson Fry fall collection is now available for purchase online! I have quickly become obsessed with this woman’s style and designs – such easy, effortless, chic pieces for women. I have my eye on this, this and this. Will let you know what ends up in my closet.

Finally, I have a piece that should be posting on The Chalkboard Mag this week about my five must-read “mommy” blogs. I think what I love most about the list is that none of them are your typical “mommy” reads, but instead lovely stops for inspiration, creativity and a little chuckle here and there as we navigate this nutty journey we’re on. Will post the link as soon as it’s live.

Happy Monday!
