For Him…From Her

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and frankly, I approve.

Skater hubs and I do not traditionally go overboard, but it’s a nice excuse to celebrate the one you love…and put a bow on it.

Rather than comb through magazines and web sites for new must-haves for the men in your life, I thought I would instead give you a peek at some of the gifts I have personally given skater hubs through the years.

Well…at least the ones that were well-received:

Clockwise from top left:

I think I have bought him half a dozen Nixon watches through the years, but this black-on-black one is a recent fave.

This neighborhood poster has adorned his office wall forever and its cool style and nod to our time spent in LA never gets old. Look for your ‘hood, they’ve added many cities to the list.

Skater hubs isn’t a jewelry man (with the exception of his watch) but this personalized tag necklace is just simple enough to suit his style. I inscribed the initials of our family on one side and a lyric from our wedding song on the other.

You’ve seen my version of a “mom chic uniform.” Well there’s one for dads, too. And it starts with great, classic shades like these. And in my house, it ends with classic skate shoes….a whole closet full of them.

No one cares about a man’s skincare routine as much as his woman. And really, what could be better than his and hers shopping at Kiehl’s?

Show him you really care by hunting down one of his favorites from childhood or adolescence. My man and his friends are Outsiders devotees (our best man even quoted Ponyboy Curtis in his speech at our wedding) so adding this DVD to his personal collection was an easy way to say “I love you”…and to keep him busy while I catch up on a Rachel Zoe Project marathon.

We have that Ork poster in my office! Love it. And my guy is a Kiehls man as well. The only “boutique” products he considers masculine for some reason!

I give the gift of music most times: concert tickets or new (old) vinyl from M Theory in San Diego. Not terribly creative but always appreciated!

Tickets are another good one, for sure. Sadly, we rarely go to see live music these days, need to work on that.

This is a great “gift guide” – conceptually and in real life. I’m fairly sure I’m going to buy that Ork poster for H…now…which city?

Yes, yes, yes on Kiehl’s – got my H to take care of his skin

Lastly, 100% agree on the DVD. Not from his childhood, but H adores Big Bang Theory, and could watch them over and over, hysterically laughing. That, and the superheroes of the Justice League or Marvel Comics picked out for him by babygirl for them to share

Thanks, mama. And thanks for sharing, as always!

Love the print. And my husband and I share Kiehl’s hand salve and Kiehl’s musk. Hope your Val Day is swell.
    Best,
    Tina

I am obsessed with the musk body wash! So good…and apparently it originated as a “love potion”, so enough said 😉

Hello there ~ Been meaning to comment. I love this great round up. I especially love the Ork posters. I’m thinking Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York would be cool to have.
Say, have you heard of the blog Happenstance? Haydee’s husband is also in the skate industry and I have a feeling you might dig her site (as she would yours).
    Have a wonderful day.
PS~Hope you got all those Trader Joe’s stickers off. I always end up finding them stuck in the most unlikely places.
