One of my oldest, closest friends is in town this week with his wife and son.

Having old friends around is always nice for us. We grew up thousands of miles from where we live today and most of our closest friends are still in our hometown of Montreal. We see them once a year or so and it’s always comfortable, easy, effortless…no matter how long it has been since our last visit.

Laughter just flows, pretensions are dropped, wine is flowing and every story or joke is a walk down memory lane.

We have been blessed with a really great circle of new friends that we’ve made in California and I know that many of them will evolve into old friends in due time as well, but this week, it has been extra nice to swap inside jokes and old stories, watch our kids get to know each other, guide them around our glorious little beach life and enjoy comfortable, easy, effortless…everything.

    Old friends are the best!!

I am fortunate enough to have known most of my closest friends for 15+ and sometimes it is just easer or like you said, effortless. Love that.

It takes a long time to grow old friends–in a world where everything is disposable and virtual friends are a dime a dozen.
Very cool to know that you are from Montreal! I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago and have enjoyed reading you ever since.
