A Clean Start

WhatWouldGwynethDo

My birthday celebration was simple and lovely.

It’s funny, I always go into it with mixed emotions and I often feel like if there isn’t a trip or a party or something spectacular, it isn’t a real celebration.

But it is.

We spent yesterday doing a lot of the usual, but with balloons and cake and no obligations and it was perfect (but don’t worry, we are going to Palm Springs in a few weeks to celebrate again!).

Tomorrow I start The 30 Clean and I am more than a little nervous. The program is well-designed with tons of online support, recipes, shopping lists and personal messages assuring you “you can do it!” But I know it’s going to be a challenge. I have been nervous because I have a few big work projects this month, this impromptu trip to the desert, my husband’s birthday…but the truth is, there is never going to be a month where I have no stress on my plate (literally), no celebrations to partake in, no excuses.

So this month is it.

I am not going to post my menu plan for this week here because I am really just trying to wrap my head around it and am not sure what will work and what won’t, but you can see some of the things I plan to eat on my The 30 Clean board on Pinterest.

I hope I make it the whole 30 days.

But for now, I just hope I make it through tomorrow. And maybe the next day. I am going to take each one as it comes. I am going to let go of all those excuses. I am going to commit this energy and this focus to myself.

And tonight I am going to have one last bite of pizza before I do.

Wish me luck! Have a great Sunday.

I ended up signing up! So glad I heard about it here last week or whenever it was that you had posted the link. I’ve been enjoying the Facebook boards and the ra-ra attitude there, which I really need. I generally eat well, but am nervous about NO sugar, including even NO stevia. Yikes! And I agree that parties and going out are the hardest part. I mentioned on my blog that I’m doing it too because my friends in town read it and at least then they’ll know why I’m being so annoying when we go out. 😉

Happy Belated Birthday! And good luck on the food plan! It’s true. There will never be a “good” time.

I’ve been wanting to take the leap from a semi-paleo lifestyle to a full paleo lifestyle for quite some time! I think doing the Whole30 would be a great way for me to continue to heal my digestive system to see what I need to completely nix. I’ve been gluten-free for over a year and need to go back to 100% dairy-free. I find my body really functions well on a grain-free diet. With any major elimination it’s really tough at first, but you do adapt and you might find that you feel so great that you want to extend it! Best of luck to you! Can’t wait to read your posts!!! =)
