SaturdayReads-WhatWouldGwynethDo

I am torn about link round-ups because frankly, I feel like you are bombarded with so many things from the web every day of your life that you probably don’t need my picks in there, too. But this was a long, busy week and if someone delivered me an edited list of good reads this morning, I would probably welcome it. So here are my favorite finds from around the web this week – if you like it, I am happy to do it more often. If not, let’s just forget it ever happened 😉

I loved Sarah’s list of top books for the mind, body and spirit. Added several to my “Books to Read” board on Pinterest.

5 Steps To A More Peaceful Morning via Clementine Daily. We are lucky to have fairly stress-free mornings in our house (you can read about them here) but this list of quick tips is great for anyone.

20 Weeks of Different Lightened-Up Dinners via How Sweet It Is. I am going against the grain and have been kicking off the New Year with gluttony, burgers, pizza and more gluttony. Sigh. This will be some much-needed inspiration for the week ahead.

The 7 Habits of Highly Stylish People.

Another opinion on the “Lean In” phenomenon from a busy Silicon Valley CEO. To be honest, I welcome another opinion on the topic.

Easily my favorite post about starting off the New Year. “I underthink it.” Genius.

Busy Isn’t Respectable Anymore. And with that, I am off to…do nothing all day.

Have a great weekend!

PS – Kai has an ear infection and we can’t get him to take his medicine without having to hold him down like a wild animal and force it in his poor little mouth. If anyone has any tips on making the process easier for a (surprisingly strong) three-year-old, please let me know!

We had a hard time getting our little guy to take some really nasty medicine a few years ago. Many pharmacies give the option of adding flavor to kids’ medicine. That didn’t help our situation at the time, since nothing could improve the taste of that stuff! We ended up giving him a spoonful of ice cream after each dose, even the middle of the night dose. Full on bribery, but it worked! We’ve also mixed medicine with yogurt or applesauce. Hope you find something that works for you!

Ah, thank you! Sadly, nothing seems to help with this guy. Even bribery. And I am very good at bribery 😉 Thanks for the note!

Had the same issue with antibiotics – we ended up putting it into his drinks so he couldn’t taste it. Had to spread a dose over a couple of drinks – not sure if this affected the strength of the dose but it seemed to still do the trick.

Thank you! We may have to try that – sadly, this three year old doesn’t eat yogurt OR applesauce (can you imagine?!) so maybe in some milk?

Give him a Popsicle before the medicine, it will numb his mouth to the taste. We would make homemade ones together using OJ or lemonade, my boys enjoyed helping and understood they were special pops and the medicine would follow after. Good luck!

      Ooh, I like that! Thanks!

I love this Popsicle idea! I’ll have to try that with my 6 year old who STILL fights me with medicine. I spent Friday night at the ER with my 2.5 year old for a corneal abrasion. We have to put ointment on his eyeball (yeah) three times a day. Here’s to solidarity in pinning them down like wild animals because sometimes there’s just no other way.
