Hey Mama

WhatWouldGwynethDo

Hey you. Yes, you.

Do yourself a favor this weekend.

Find some time for yourself.

Wake up a few minutes before everyone else and pour yourself a nice cup of tea and just sit.

Let the kids watch an extra cartoon or two and peruse Pinterest.

Maybe it’s time to send them to your mother’s house while you get that manicure.

Or have your husband take them to the park while you call your favorite far away girlfriend for a chat.

Don’t say the words “I’m so burnt out” or “I’m so tired.” Don’t even give in to the thought.

Laugh a little. Dance a little. Put on a little lipstick.

Look in the mirror and appreciate what you see.

Pat yourself on the back if no one is doing it for you.

Forget about being the best mom/wife/employee/caretaker for a minute, and just focus on being the best you.

If you don’t…who will?

Happy Friday!

Update: this post is already generating some great, inspiring feedback. Jasmine Tweeted at me to tell me it prompted her to find time in her busy morning routine today to stop at Tartine and buy herself a morning treat (mmmm….Tartine….). If you find one of those moments this weekend for yourself, please share with me on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram (links in the right sidebar) or of course right here in the comments. Would love to hear about it!

Great advice. Self care is usually the last thing on a mothers to do list and it’s actually the key to being able to give to others. Love this!

Beautiful reminder and one needed today. Thank you!

Thank you for this reminder. And with that, I’m going to shut down my work computer, and take my charged phone with me to lunch and read. The boss is out, it’s quiet at work, and even if there’s an emergency? Well, it’s accounting. There are no emergencies.

This is exactly what I had been needing to read being home with two awesome little individuals I have been forgetting myself a little. My sisters-in-law offered to take my girls for a couple hours and I went and had my nails done (first time ever) and did some shopping FOR MYSELF. It was hard at first but I soon got the hang of it!

    Beautiful shot!
