My Favorite Blogs – Bleubird

Blog rolls are the lists bloggers share somewhere on their site (typically on the right-hand sidebar) where they list and link back to their favorite fellow bloggers and/or web sites.

Mine tends to evolve, but very rarely. The ones I list here are the ones I actually read, the ones I get inspiration from and the ones I admire.

I thought that from time to time, I would tell you why. So the list isn’t just a list.

First up is Bleubird. I have it listed as Bleubird Vintage, but most people just think of it as Bleubird.

It’s a blog written by a mom of four named James who lives in Nashville with her husband and kids. James used to make a living in vintage clothing (hence the original name of the site) but from what I gather, now works as a full-time blogger and mama.

I first came across Bleubird one night when we were in Palm Springs with the kids and they were asleep in our hotel room so we had to occupy ourselves (quietly) in the dark. I took to my iPad and ended up spending the next two hours reading through her posts.

Many people love James and her life because of its visual inspiration. She shares beautiful photos of their home, their outings, the kids, recipes (her Sunday’s cake series is a personal fave), must-haves and the like. But the truth was, we have a very different aesthetic and her style wasn’t really what drew me in.

It was her commitment and obvious passion to being a hands-on, fulfilled mother to four. It was the way she wrote about motherhood and home schooling and her kids’ milestones that made me relate and want to read more. She writes honestly, succinctly (which I really appreciate in a blog), and candidly and it all comes from a place of love and free spirit that I think more of us need to inject into our lives. She believes in a balanced life that includes her children, her husband, her friends, her community and a killer Guinness chocolate cake.

And she makes you want to strive for the same in your own.

Thank you for sharing your life with us, James.

I absolutely love everything about her blog! She and her family have so many wonderful adventures, even when they’re just staying local. I really enjoy learning about the homeschooling she’s doing with her children. Everyone just seems so happy, healthy, and loving!

You summed this up so perfectly- it’s her passion for being a mom (without it all seeming unattainable). Her style is not my style either, but it’s still one of my favorites. xx
