A Weekend in Montreal
I am headed home to Montreal tomorrow for a wedding this weekend.
I still call it home even though I haven’t lived there in ten years and haven’t wanted to live there in 13 or so.
But just like that, it’s still “home.”
I love that I still get this instant feeling of comfort and confidence and ease on its city streets. I see so many of my closest friends in a short amount of time, where we take advantage of every cocktail, every amazing meal and every chance to catch up in-person versus over Facetime or Skype.
I am so excited to watch my husband’s best friend marry the woman he loves and to celebrate them with some great people.
I can’t wait to take in all of the new things the city has to offer and make room for old favorites.
I can’t honestly imagine us living back there now – our goals and vision for the future and lifestyle have changed so much since we left.
But it will always be home, even if it’s thousands of miles away.
Apparently, sometimes the heart can be in two places at once.
Have a lovely weekend!
