Through a Mother’s Eyes

MotherhoodviaTheGlow-WhatWouldGwynethDo

I will never look at…

A school bus filled with laughing kids

A teenager smoking a joint

A commercial for overnight diapers

A toddler’s bloodied knees from a fall

A bubble wand

A mother in pain

A crying baby on a plane

A tragedy striking a schoolyard

A child with special needs

A parent walking ten steps ahead of their kid, not looking back

A commercial about a girl going off to college

A movie where a child is sad, sick, hurt or angry

A group of kids being mean to another

A dad fixing a ponytail

A baby bump

A group of kids being sweet to each other

A handmade birthday card smothered in x’s and o’s

The same way again.

This post was inspired by the movie “The Impossible,” starring the magnificent Naomi Watts.

My husband and I watched it the other night absolutely mesmerized and emotionally captivated the entire time.

It personally struck me on such an intense level and reminded me of all the things in life – mundane and not – that I see with such emotion now that I am a mother.

Reminded me of all the things my mother has seen (happy birthday, mom!) throughout my life and how they must have impacted her – in good ways and bad.

It’s a blessing and a curse, I think.

Life…through a mother’s eyes.

YES. And you never knew how much your parents loved you until you were a parent either:)

Honestly, the emotions that come with being a mother can be so overwhelming! Seeing everything through this lens makes life feel so precious and yet so harsh, yes?

Yes, exactly! Amazing in so many ways..and draining in so many ways at the same time. Remember when all we used to care about was what to wear on Friday night?!?
