Making My Monday

You know what would really make my Monday today? If this freaking never-ending cold would GO AWAY ALREADY!

Sigh.

I have been sick for a good solid week now and it’s weighing on me terribly. But there are so many great things to look forward to in the days ahead, so let’s kick this cold’s ass with a little boost of positivity, shall we? Here are five things Making My Monday today:

My birthday! It’s on Friday. Don’t you love it when your birthday falls on a weekend? It’s like the universe’s extra little gift to you. This time I have decided to turn 35. I like 35. I can own 35. It doesn’t feel terribly old or terribly young. 35 is going to be good.

We are celebrating in New York — even better! We are headed to the city for a long weekend without the kids and meeting up with some of our favorite people in the world from Montreal for three days of shopping, eating and fabulous fun. I figure you only turn 35 once, right?

I will be starting my big day with a much-needed facial from my friends at Mario Badescu day spa with my sister. A) I need a facial badly. B) I love Mario Badescu products, my go-to cleanser of the moment is this one. C) It’s always fun to have a little sister catch up…she did 35 long before me (wink wink) so hopefully she will have some good insight to share.

I am working on a fun project next week with a new client. It’s a great brand and I am excited for my first foray with them, hopefully all goes well and we find ways to collaborate again down the line.

My mom. She helps us out with Kai three days a week which is no easy feat these days. She is watching our kids all weekend for us so we can go and gallivant around New York in style. She just brought me a hot lemon tea and says she is going to do that “every hour” all day so I can feel better. I love that even as a mom myself, and one turning 35 no less, I can still always use mine.

Happy Monday ~

Jealous of your trip to NY. It being one of my favorite places on the planet, I already know your birthday will be a great one!

Can you reflect on your early thirties? Expectations, let downs and successes compared to your twenties? I just hit the big 30 and I would love some things to look forward to.

Chai de te? It’s what my MIL would be bringing me, laced with a fair bit o’ honey, too. Feel better. You will. Rest enough that you can fully enjoy your much-deserved weekend. And relish the new client and new project!

Ooh, I LOVE that cleanser too. Discovered it recently and it’s a firm favourite already. Look forward to hearing about your NYC trip … I’ll also be in NYC for my birthday in June, although, um, it’s a little further north than 35.

Hmm I should check out his products, I think they would be good for my super sensitive skin.

Also, happy early birthday! Have a wonderful time in NYC!
