Light Me Up – My Favorite Candles for the Home

WhatWouldGwynethDo-Favoritecandles

I love candles. I light them every night, throughout all the main living areas of our home, and I swear, their effect mellows everybody out. Here are some of my favorites, for every room in the house:

(from left to right)

For the office: I like sweet, yummy scents while I work. They bring a sense of warmth and comfort to long days at my desk and Voluspa Macaron is my go-to.

For the bathroom: It’s important to have a nice scent in the bathroom and those diffuser things are a don’t in my book. I opt for a chic floral scent – Diptyque Rose Duet is a current fave – that looks as good as it smells.

For the living room: I prefer musky, warm scents in our living room, especially in the winter months. Voluspa Baltic Amber and Aura Muse Tobacco Vanilla are two of my favorites.

For the kitchen: I want a fresh scent in the kitchen to mask any not-so-fresh scents from cooking, cleaning, etc. Jo Malone Orange Blossom is a luxurious way to spruce up the busiest room in the house.

For the bedroom: finally, I love the ritual of lighting my Origins Keep Calm candle on my bedside table at night. The lavender, rosemary and jasmine help me decompress after a long day.

Great picks!! Voluspa Macaron is one of my go-to fragrances as well, but I love it for comforting me at night after a tough day. For me it’s my unwind button. Same with Voluspa Baltic Amber and especially Voluspa French Bourbon Vanille! I love that one. If you haven’t tried it yet you definitely should, especially since you like Voluspa Macaron.

In the office I’m the opposite. I like bright, invigorating fragrances to help pep me up. Fragrances like Voluspa Coeur de Cassis, Aura Clairvoyant and Lafco Office are staples for me. Aura Clairvoyant is my go-to citrus scent to make the kitchen smell clean anytime.

I love Diptyque Baies for special occasions and for a real powerhouse scent. I have the Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia candle but it’s actually a little over the top for me. I tried it once and have yet to go back to it, sadly:(

I haven’t tried an Origins candle yet, though I love their moisturizer!! It’s all I use for my bod. My zen scent is Voluspa Atelier Provence Lavande. It’s made with only 100% organic essential lavender oil from France. The cold throw isn’t my favorite but burning it’s the most relaxing scent I’ve come across. I’m a zombie with that one.

    Love your post!

Obsessed with Voluspa, but haven’t smelled the Macaron. I’ll have to try that next time I’m in the market for a candle. Never thought about one at my desk at work, but that sounds like a great idea. Any more thoughts on making your office space more personable? I was just promoted to a bigger space and I have no decor:( yet.
