Making My Monday

This weekend was a good one, focused entirely on quality family time. Our little crew of four, dinner with my parents, we really took the opportunity to just enjoy our surroundings without a lot of fuss and stress. Isn’t that what weekends are for, after all? Here are a few things I am looking forward to in the week ahead, the things “Making My Monday“:

My hair. I pampered myself with a late afternoon blowout at The Drybar yesterday afternoon (I chose the Manhattan, smooth and sleek) and it was a great way to a) wind down the weekend and the effects of the sun on my locks and b) prep for a busy week ahead of work meetings and appointments. As a girl who has a love/hate relationship with my hair (I love it when someone else does it, I hate it when they don’t), the power of a blowout is never lost on me. It gives me an instant boost of confidence and class that no other beauty product can touch.

The return of The Rachel Zoe Project on Wednesday. I am hooked on this Hollywood stylist’s inside look at the fashion world, especially now that she has a toddler in tow. Can’t wait to take in the season premiere from the comfort of my couch, in a decidedly unfashionable fashion.

My new menu planning item for the week is Gwyneth Paltrow’s spaghetti limone parmeggiano. The first few words in the recipe are “easy peasy,” which translates to…just perfect for a Monday night.

Little D and I are going to see Yo Gabba Gabba on Saturday. She tries to tell me she has outgrown the show (and she kind of has) but no one can resist the fun of DJ Lance Rock and gang in-person. It’s infectious, whether you’re five or thirty-five, so I am sure we will find a few sillies in there somewhere.

My husband. Man, this man is good. He makes my every day, but lately he has really been stepping up his game. I am still battling this exhausting chronic cough (if you happen to be an ear, nose and throat or asthma/allergy specialist, please email me!) and it has been physically and emotionally and mentally dragging me down lately. But he picks me – and this little family – right back up when we need it. I don’t talk about him too much here, but when I do, my words simply can’t do him justice. Thank you, babe.

Happy Monday ~

Totally agree about the power of a good blowout! I had one in NYC and it was amazing and lasted three full days, which saved me tons of time getting ready in the morning.

Have you tried acupuncture for your cough? I do it for all kinds of things, including bad colds, insomnia, pain, etc and it’s the only thing that consistently works for me. Might be worth trying.

    so sweet about your hubby.

    and ditto re: rachel zoe.

and i hope you liked that gp recipe. it’s a regular over here, though i use a smaller pasta so it’s easier for the boy to eat. and i’m super liberal with the parm because… well… it’s so good.

oh and ditto: would totally recommend trying acupuncture for the cough.

    xx

I love blowouts, but can only manage to keep them looking nice for two days max. Any advice?

Dry shampoo on your roots, silk/satin pillowcase and don’t touch it all day long (which is hard when it’s so shiny and sleek and touchable!).

I’m going to have to try the spaghetti limone parmeggiano recipe – sounds so light and perfect for this warm week we’re having!
