Making My Monday

If you’re wondering how I spent my Saturday night, I was online gushing about this foundation from Stila. It’s definitely Making My Monday. I have fairly good skin (finally, at 34…thank god!) but am prone to dark spots, the occasional blemish and pores that I have been told are genetically impossible to get rid of. So I like some good reliable coverage, especially around the T-zone area. This does just that, and it LASTS, without feeling heavy or Kardashian-esque.

Today, my dad and my sister both celebrate birthdays. It’s always been fun that they have a joint birthday (fun fact: Little D was born on her paternal grandmother’s birthday, too!) and seeing them both embrace another year that is sure to be an exciting one is great.

My lovely friend Erin at Such Small Steps (she works in book publishing and her blog is great, check it out!) was kind enough to offer me a box-set of Barefoot Contessa cookbooks gathering dust in her garage (only because she already has them). I am giddy with excitement to receive them, so generous of her to offer! And via Twitter, no less. Love the internet sometimes.

My husband is home! He was traveling for the past seven days (I know, I know, it’s not an eternity or anything) and by day seven, I was getting a little burnt out on the whole solo mom gig. Kai is at an all-time high on the energy level these days and Little D was sick and home from school and work can’t go on pause ever, so…we’re happy he’s back!

I have to head up to Ventura later this week for a work event so we decided to spend a few nights and make it a little family mini-break. I am over the moon excited to stay at the Ojai Valley Inn. Have heard fabulous things and I have a feeling a few days in the mountains of Ojai, drinking in all its goodness, is just what this girl needs.

Happy Monday ~

I love Stila products (especially the eye shadow pallets) but will have to look into this foundation, thanks for the tip!

BTW, wow, 7 days alone with two kids must have been hard. Single moms (even temporary) ones deserve a lot of credit!! How awesome that you guys are following up with a getaway in Ventura. I love that town–never been to Ojai though. Sounds fabulous!

I’m always looking for good make-up recs, so thank you! I love Stila eyeshadow also, so I’m excited to try out more of their line. Glad you are getting a break now! Ventura is so fun. The main street has all sorts of fun little shops, and I always get a very family-friendly vibe when I’m around there.

I love it when you blog about beauty products. šŸ™‚ Stila eye shadows are the best. Kitten has been my go-two since college.

And on the Ojai note, a friend of mine and her husband went recently and stayed at the Ojai Valley Inn. They said it was very kid-friendly, which I wouldn’t have assumed, so that’s a plus. Have fun and let me know how it is! I’ve been wanting to go.

If you are staying at the Ojai Inn and you haven’t booked yet, they just had a deal on either Groupon or Travelzoo for a much cheaper rate, even on the weekends. I wanted to use it for my bday weekend, but it excludes my birthday weekend, of course! Have a fantastic time and please tell about it when you get back.
