The Grass is Green Right Here
Well after I spent much of December complaining about the lack of snow and cold that signals the true holidays to me, there we were for most of January besieged by a nasty (by Southern California standards) cold snap.
I feel like I have had a permanent chill in my bones for weeks now. Can never get warm despite a roaring fireplace DVD (sadly we bought a house without a real one, never again!), endless steaming cups of hot cocoa and layers upon layers of my Vince favorites.
And I quickly came to the very stark realization that the idyllic visions of falling snowflakes and traces of my hot breath in the cold air are really only idyllic for two weeks of the year. Those around Christmas and New Year’s.
Come January 2nd, I am good. I am happy for the sun. And the warmth. And the flowering landscapes. And the blue ocean.
And this weekend, it is finally coming back. The windows will be open, the flip flops back on and hopefully there will be an afternoon (maybe even two) spent on the beach.
The grass is green right here. And I can see it. Hope yours is as well.
Happy weekend ~
