Making My Monday

I love a post awards-show Monday. All the fashion and beauty news everywhere – it makes the morning feel justifiably frivolous and fun, don’t you think? I am going to post my faves from last night on my Facebook page in a bit, but in the meantime, here is a look at the week ahead and all the things I am looking forward to:

Groceries. Shocking, I know. But I have been getting so much pleasure out of being a “domestic engineer” lately. I love planning our menus, shopping for our essentials, looking around at a well-stocked house, keeping the budget on-track (for the most part). It gives me a weird sense of control and pride to keep this little family train humming along at a steady pace and so I look forward to doing groceries now. And am more thankful than ever that I work from home and can do them on a Monday.

Kicking off a new client tomorrow. I love a client kick-off meeting. It’s a great first opportunity to show what you can do, how you think, and how excited you are to be working with a new partner. New is always good.

Today’s lunch. With Golden Globes humming in the background yesterday afternoon, I made Ina Garten’s penna alla vodka from her new book “Foolproof.” I must admit, as I was crushing plum tomatoes by hand part of me thought…hmm, this is looking an awful lot like the vodka sauce I can buy in a jar at Trader Joe’s. Well I was SO wrong, friends. This dish was so amazing and flavorful and decadent that skater hubs and I literally couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. Thankfully, there are leftovers. And yes, you can find the recipe (and most of the others) online, but trust me, you want this book in your kitchen.

A school tour. We are sending Little D to public school next year when she enters grade one. It was a big part of the reason we moved out of LA, so that our kids could go to good public schools and although I got a little swept up in the private school concept even here in the suburbs, we are sticking to our original (ahem, affordable) plan. I am going to take a peek at her future stomping grounds with a friend later this week and it’s exciting and sad and exciting all at once.

Some quiet time. Skater hubs is off to a few more trade shows over the next two weeks but before that the days ahead look fairly run-of-the-mill and regimented. Just the way I like them.

Have a good Monday ~

*photo above of these DELICIOUS scones I made on Sunday morning. Yes, scones in the morning and heavy pasta in the evening. I am off to The Dailey Method today, don’t you fret*

bonzo’s thee and a half so kindergarten is still a while off but i keep finding myself getting swept up wondering about private schools, too. we live in santa barbara and the public school in our district is great – and is totally our plan, too – but i somehow i keep going off on tangents and mentally deviating from said plan. exhausting.

    xx

Any chance you would be willing to share your weekly meal plan with us every week? I am the WORST meal planner but with 3 kids I’m trying to improve. Any help is appreciated!
