A Comment About Comments
I cannot tell you how many blog comments I see (here and out and about on the web) that start with “I never comment on blogs….but x, x, and x.”
Well, please, please, please….do.
I have to tell you that nothing drives as much passion and motivation and drive in a blogger than comments.
Stats are nice. PR pitches from companies who recognize you exist are lovely (though as a PR pro, I tend to silently pick them apart just a little bit). Friends of friends telling your friends they read your blog is great.
But comments from actual readers are inspiring like nothing else.
I want to hear your voice. Your opinions. Your likes and dislikes. I want to know the names of the people behind those stats. I want to know what you like about the blog. I want to know why you keep coming back to it. If you keep coming back to it. And if you don’t, that’s ok too. Though no need to comment on that 😉
I know from experience what an onslaught of comments can do to the psyche, it isn’t always easy or fun. But if I manage to inspire you in any way on any given day – with a chuckle, a moment of sentimentality, a Clare Vivier clutch you must have – I would love to know about it. And so would the other bloggers you visit and like.
So please, comment away! And next time you do, you can start it with “I always comment on blogs, so x, x, and x.”
