Call Me, Maybe?

I was saying goodbye to a friend from New York the other night. We are both very busy women in our 30s – career, relationships, life, schedules.

Me to her: “I’ll text you.”

Her to me: “Ya, don’t email me. I can’t keep up.”

Me to her: “Ya, and you’re never on Twitter, so won’t Tweet you.”

Her to me: “Ya…text is good. Or call me?”

Both of us laughed.

I can sadly admit that the best way to get a hold of me is via text or Twitter and even the latter is getting tiresome lately.

My email inbox is far too busy and work-related matters have to take priority.

The whole Facebook messaging thing doesn’t work for me, either. I see your message there once but if I don’t reply right away, I never see it again. And writing on my wall is just kind of obnoxious, no?

You can definitely call me, but if your number isn’t already programmed into my phone, chances are I won’t answer.

And let’s be honest, only my mother, mother-in-law and pediatrician’s office use my landline number.

So I guess that settles it…text me, maybe.

What’s your favorite method of communication these days?

I’m horrible because a lot of the time I don’t feel like talking on the phone so I actually prefer text. My friend called me twice in a row the other day while I was at work and I got all freaked out because, why would she call me twice in a row?! The drama. Anyway, she just wanted to ask me about helping her plan her 30th birthday. I seriously thought something bad happened all because she called me twice in a row insteading of texting like she normally does. I guess it was something serious, it is her 30th!

Ha ha, so true. If you call me twice, I assume someone died.

Hilarious and true! The other night S ate dinner with her friend via FaceTime, sign of the times I guess.

Ha ha! I am surprised she stayed focused enough. D Skypes with grandparents sometimes and it lasts all of three minutes.

so very very true. txt. def text. not enough of my “IRL” friends are on twitter to make that a way…but it would work. 100%

I am sad to report that texting is best. I can’t believe I am typing that! But nothing beats a great phone convo. My BFF lives on the east coast and I’m on the west…we have resorted to sharing our Google calendars to schedule a phone chat. It is that bad!

Sigh…I am in the same boat! We have to text to check schedules for a phone call. And yes, a good two hour catch up on the phone is the best, but we leave day-to-day quick check-ins to text and without them, I think we’d feel more disconnected.
