Fall Fashion Trend Report

Ok ladies, I know we’re all still working on our tan lines, painting our toes in fun, frivolous summer hues and wearing our maxi dresses like mommy uniforms, but it’s time to fast-forward to fall for a second.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for fashion followers and so it is with sheer delight that I have rounded up some of the must-have trends of the season for your reference as you start to hit the stores to stock your wardrobe for the new season…in your maxi dress, of course.

Clockwise from top left:

Tory Burch peacoat, $495. Ok, maybe not a “must-have” in balmy Southern California, but definitely a “want.” Peacoats look good on everyone, go with virtually any style, and will always be in fashion so buy one that you love.

Warby Parker tortoise sunglasses, $95+. You know those prints on your pants that you fell in love with all summer? Move them north for fall and let a pair of stand-out shades amplify your outfit in a flash.

Crème de la Crème sweatshirt, $160. This sweater blew up my Pinterest feed this week and with good reason. It’s a chic take on a classic grey sweatshirt which will undoubtedly become your go-to as the temperature starts to dip.

Alice + Olivia knit top, $330. Repeat after me: navy is the new neutral. Navy is the new neutral. Navy is the new neutral. But this fun rhinestone top takes it from neutral to “notice me!”

Cole Haan Air Morgan slipper, $168. If you’re anything like me, you’re going to stock up on more ballet flats for the new season. But if you want to edge out the fashion competition, go for a “smoking slipper” instead. This style is probably the most talked-about fall trend and in a more neutral shade like gold, can be surprisingly versatile.

Butter London Lippy in Toff, $17. Deepen your summer lip gloss du jour and opt for a dusty rose for fall instead.

J Brand Zoey in Lava, $224. We went bright for spring and summer but now it’s time to bring it back down to earth with denim and corduroys in deep, rich tones like this beautiful burgundy.

J. Crew tie neck top in polka dot, $118. Everything’s coming up polka dots this fall and I approve. This classic print adds a little playful to your polished look and again, works well on everyone.

Kelly Wearstler twisted brass bracelet, $225. I love a statement piece of jewelry like this that a) turns up the volume on any old outfit b) warms up the rich, earth tones we love for fall and c) amazes my 18 month old while I am busy running errands.

Dior Vernis in orchid, $23. Dior went deep for fall. This lush orchid polish is just what the doctor ordered after months of neons, nail art and sea-blue hues.

YSL Cabas Chyc, prices vary but all $$$. The trend here is not the YSL bag, I just love it so much I had to include it. The trend is handbags in jewel tones like this stunning blue, berry reds, dark emerald greens, mustard yellows. And hey, if you can get the YSL, even better 😉
