I thought about it and then didn’t. I was pregnant with my son during the Colombine shootings. We live not far now from where the VA Tech shootings took place, well, near enough at least that the daughter of our neighbors was in school there at the the time. It’s all around us. It happens everywhere. It hits us in the oddest moments.

But I think the only thing you do is keep doing the things you wrote about yesterday. The important before-breakfast things. The picking up of socks and pouring of bowls of cherrios. And throughout those little, important moments, we hold each other and ourselves in the light I suppose. xo
