Happy (?) Friday
It’s funny, I was all prepped to post something frivolous and fashion-y today.
The blog was feeling a little heavy lately, which is great in its own way, but I wanted to take a break from parenting and the life/work juggle and stress to talk about clothes and makeup and cocktails.
Then I woke up to the news about last night’s horrific shooting in Colorado.
And really, how do you go light from there?
I am going to spend the weekend appreciating what we have, hugging my kids closer than ever, and hoping for peace for all of those involved.
My latest lip gloss find can wait until Monday, don’t you think?

I have been thinking about this post since I hit publish.
I live nowhere near Colorado. I certainly don’t know anyone involved in this tragic incident. I had no plans to see the Batman movie.
I think what really bothered me the most about it all is that I sat in a crowded movie theater a couple of months ago and looked around and for a split second as the lights dimmed I thought to myself, “Wow, what would happen in here if someone came in with a gun?”
My next thought was that I was becoming too paranoid.
I guess what bothers me the most about it is that I wasn’t.
Apparently, you can’t be too paranoid anymore in today’s world.
