Worth the Stop
This week has been a weird one.
Skater hubs and I are both busy and stressed and all-consumed with work stuff. Not one, but two kids were sick – Little D to start the week and now Kai to end it. There were long days, sleepless nights, and not enough wine in between.
So what’s a little family to do?
Stop and smell the roses, of course.
We played hooky on Wednesday afternoon, picked up Little D at school and went to check out some local flower fields that are just starting their annual bloom, which we have never seen up close.
We wandered through rows and rows of ranunculus (ranuncului?), marveling at the bold colors and heady fragrances.
We took a wagon ride with an old driver named Chuck and learned the importance of remaining seated while in motion.
We wandered a maze made of sweet peas, letting Little D lead the way out all on her own. So…that was an experience.
We learned how to spot a fairy.
We ate overpriced animal crackers.
We took in breathtaking ocean views, giving us a whole new perspective on our everyday surroundings.
We literally stopped and smelled the roses.
And let me tell you, it was worth the stop.
Happy weekend!

Perfect. This is real perfection.
Thank you, mama!
Such a cute post! Looks like they had the best day. Hope the little ones are on the mend and you have a relaxing (somewhat?) weekend!

Thanks, Kristin! I am doing a cleanse this weekend so not sure relaxing will be the word 😉
That is awesome. We have different kinds of beautiful things here in Florida, but fields of flowers is something that I hope I can take my kids to see some day. Have a great weekend.
It is lovely but was actually less about the flowers and more about being together in nature, away from it all…if only for two hours 🙂
