Mama Muses – The Requisite Golden Globes Post
I love the Golden Globes. Yes, I DVR’d the actual show and watched it in fast-forward mode in less than 90 minutes, so I don’t love it ALL, but I love that it’s the first highly anticipated red carpet of the year, that it often predicts what’s to come on Oscar night and that Ricky Gervais keeps hosting it. And of course, I love the fashion. And this year, I love, love, love that my three favorite looks were on women who do double-duty as active, busy moms:
I loved Jessica Alba and from what I saw on Twitter, most of you did, too. Not only is she rocking a killer post-baby body, she looks genuinely happy, polished, and just glam enough without being over the top. Gucci done right. Her street style is pretty great, too. She is definitely a devotee of the “mom chic” uniform.
Salma, Salma, Salma. We all know she has one of the most enviable closets in the world thanks to her fabulous French husband. Well last night she worked those connections…and she worked them well. Another Gucci dress, but such a departure from Alba’s, which was nice for the brand. This was one part wow, one part figure-flattering, and one part sophisticated chic – all at once. Thought her hair and makeup were flawless. Not always a devotee, but loved it all last night.
Divorce was the best thing that ever happened to this girl. And apparently, getting remarried is also working wonders. She got mixed reviews, some dubbed her look “Jessica Rabbit-esque,” but I thought she looked sexy, fun and fabulous in her Zac Posen. The red was ravishing, her hair was carefree and flowing (as the Globes should be!) and she certainly made a statement, whether you liked it or not.
Until Oscar night…
